Work and Development Orders program is a government program intended to help people who have difficulties in repaying their State Debt Recovery Office (SDRO) fines.
There are several options for people who want to get rid of their debts other than repaying their fines. They can attend a course, do a voluntary work, undertake counselling or treatment.
Participation in this program is voluntary for individuals and for organisations.
To be eligible for WDO, one has to satisfy at least one of the criteria:
unemployment, serious financial hardship, homelessness, serious addiction, mental illness, intellectual disability, autism, brain injury or dementia.
Great Lakes Neighbourhood Services acts as a WDO sponsor. Forster NC’s role is to interview potential participants in the WDO program and then assist them in accessing activities that will help them to repay their fines.
