Running for a Domestic Violence Refuge in Forster Tuncurry.

POSITIONS VACANT: Due to further developments with the Great lakes Women’s Shelter project, we are now in a position to advertise for a Shelter Manager position as well as a Case Worker. Because of this recent development the Information / Employment Packages for both these positions will not be available planned. Classified advertisements will be placed in next week’s Advocate (Wednesday 23rd September) and hopefully Information packs will be available from this site by Thursday 17th September. Enquiries  to the FNC Manager on 6555 4351 can be directed from Tuesday 22nd September.

1st TARGET = $20,000  PLEASE NOTE: as at 8th September we have raised our
1st target of $20,000 that will be matched by WCS giving us $40,000 for set-up expenses.
2nd TARGET = $115,000 – of which we have raised $70,000 well done everyone!
The Great Lakes Women’s Shelter has gained its incorporation status and soon we’ll have a bank account for people to deposit their donations directly into….watch this space….

The Forster Neighbourhood Centre first opened it’s doors in 1980 as an incorporated association – locally managed, employing local people, to address the changing needs of the Great Lakes community.

Forster Neighbourhood Centre is currently supported financially by:

  • The State Department of Families and Community Services (FACS) – Community Builders (CB) program and Early Intervention and Placement Program (EIPP),
  • The Commonwealth Department of Social Services – Financial Counselling Program, Emergency Relief and
    No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS),
  • The State Office of Fair Trading – (NILS) and Financial Counselling
  • Club Forster – Neighbourhood Kitchen and Community Food Store
  • Great Lakes Council – small grant
